CE marking for exporters
CE marking for non-EU fertiliser producers
You make a fertilising product outside the EU and want to sell it in the EU. To sell it as a CE-marked product, it must follow Regulation (EU) 2019/1009. We build and finalise the technical dossier for you.
Request a scoping callWhat you must do before you sell in the EU
As the manufacturer, you must:
- write the technical documentation;
- complete the conformity assessment. The module depends on what your product is made from and what it does;
- write the EU declaration of conformity and put the CE marking on the packaging;
- keep the technical documentation and the declaration for 5 years after the product is first sold in the EU.
You stay responsible for the product. A consultant such as RecyFert can prepare and store your documents, but cannot take over this responsibility.
The importer
An importer brings a product from outside the EU onto the EU market. Before the importer does this, the importer must check that you have done the conformity assessment and written the technical documentation. The product must also have the required documents, an identification number and your contact details. The importer adds their own name and address and keeps a copy of the declaration for 5 years (Article 8).
An authorised representative in the EU
You can appoint a person or company in the EU as your authorised representative, in writing. The representative does the tasks in this written mandate, for example keeping the declaration of conformity and the technical documentation ready for authorities for 5 years. Two duties always stay with you: making the product correctly and writing the technical documentation (Article 7). If you have a representative, the declaration of conformity shows its name and address.
We do not act as authorised representative ourselves, but we can help you find one.
Languages
The declaration of conformity must be translated into the languages that each EU country requires, for the countries where you sell. The label must be in a language that end-users easily understand, as each EU country decides. The Gilbert FPR software (opens in a new tab) can make the declaration of conformity and the technical documentation in different languages. We can deliver documents for all 27 EU countries.
